I’ve listened to both Draken & A Kingdom of Exiles in the last month—both excellent. My sister has audiobooks for commuting, and though I do that as well, I also use them to occupy my ears while I play puzzles, etc. Keep up the good work, Ms. Nova. Cannot wait for the next installment!
Perhaps taking a step back and thinking of the second book not as a sequel, rather as just a continuation of the same story…just the second part of one big book.
When I find “series” anymore, I no longer read them until they are complete, or if a long series, the author has shown she/he can deliver subsequent books in a timely fashion, thank author’s Martin and Rothfuss for this cautionary stance on book series.
However, I purchased Kingdom of Exiles after reading an excerpt in Amazon and didn’t want to stop reading, even though I knew this series was not complete. Only two authors have persuaded me to do this with incomplete works..Jonathan Renshaw and now, you.
I like to search out new authors and really enjoy finding someone with a style of writing that engages me, well done.
Since I am a word consumer, not a word producer, I’m not going to shout and pout and demand you get this done on some arbitrary timeline that satisfies my desires. I went in to this book knowing it could be a year or ten years or never. But that is the chance I took, because your story was compelling, well done.
I cannot tell you how many books I have read over my lifetime, thousand maybe two thousand, I lost count. Suffice it to say, I have become a very picky reader, and get annoyed with fantasy stories that are lazy…but this kept my attention. I found the modern day language and euphemisms to be a bit jarring and some of the plot a bit predictable, but the style of writing and the way it was written turned this book into a real page turner.
BTW, I found this website specifically to leave a review, Amazon has crushed my ability to leave book reviews as they believe I am some professional shill (can’t make this stuff up about Amazon-sheesh).
You have been given a gift and I hope you take it and fly with it as far as you can go!
When is the book going to be released? I see that the last time you posted about the book was in January about it being released in 2020, is that still happening?

I loved this book. Please know that it was an honor to read it, and I truly hope your health is on the mend. Not because I want you to write another book – but because you deserve to be happy and healthy.
Blessings

Also – I meant I loved a kingdom of exiles. Haha. Haven’t read anything else. It’s my goal in life to be super vague as well as weirdly optimistic. Cheers
